The BC Lake Stewardship Society hosted two LakeKeepers workshops in 2011. Thanks to the generous funding we received by the RBC Blue Water Project, we were able to offer two LakeKeepers workshops free of charge to all participants!
The first workshop was held in Kelowna, on September 10th and 11th, and the second LakeKeepers workshop in Nanaimo on September 26th and September 27th. Both courses were a huge success, based on the number of registrations and participant feedback. The courses were attended by both BCLSS members and the general public from around the province and were filled to capacity with 24 attendees in Kelowna and 21 attendees in Nanaimo (capacity was based on the number of boats that could be safely used during the field portion of each course). The backgrounds and level of expertise of the participants ranged from stewardship group members, retired biologists, consultants, university students, non-profit organization representatives, and local and provincial governments, which resulted in meaningful and thought-provoking discussions throughout each workshop.
Please stay tuned for more information on upcoming LakeKeeper workshops! If you are interested in hosting or attending a LakeKeepers workshop in your area, please contact the BCLSS office at 1-877- BC LAKES or
