The BC Lake Stewardship Society Strategic Plan
Goals and Objectives
1. Organize and participate in environmental projects.
Objectives:
- Facilitate the BC Lake Stewardship & Monitoring Program
- Organize the annual Secchi Dip-in
- Develop Aquatic Plant Survey Program
- Address climate change issues in future projects
2. Offer and participate in conferences, courses, seminars, and events throughout British Columbia.
Objectives:
- Organize annual lake conference to be held in a different regions of the province
- Hold the BCLSS Annual General Meeting in conjunction with annual conference
- Continue to develop and offer the LakeKeepers training program
- Continue to participate in and organize community based programs
3. Provide tools and resource materials on lake-related issues
Objectives:
- Maintain and update the website
- Provide members of the BCLSS with a quarterly newsletter and monthly e-newsletter
- Continue the development of the BCLSS library
- Direct group members to associated programs looking for input from the public
4. Provide support and foster communication, linkage, and networking for lake protection groups throughout British Columbia.
Objectives:
- Share knowledge, information and resources whenever possible among citizens, scientists, First Nations, environmental professionals, and government agencies.
- Maintain professional staff with a high standard of skills, knowledge and public presence.
5. Strengthen the growth of the BC Lake Stewardship Society
Objectives:
- Actively seek new memberships
- Increase sponsorship support
- Continue to update the definition of staff roles and responsibilities
- Recruit new Board members
- Research and pursue new funding
- Raise public awareness of the BCLSS through a marketing plan
