A variety of topics will be covered, including organizing a stewardship group, fundraising, lake ecology, watershed planning and developing a lake monitoring program. Additional modules will be covered as well, based on the interests of the attendees (as discussed and determined prior to the workshop). Optional modules include: Invasive Species, Aquatic Plant Surveying, Watershed Assessments, and Watershed Planning Processes.

LakeKeepers Training Course
The British Columbia Lake Stewardship Society is preparing to launch our "LakeKeepers Workshops" in August 2009. The first course will be held at Lake Windermere in the East Kootenays.
In 2004, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada funded the completion of the LakeKeepers manual. Some of you may already have the manual or have heard about it. For those of you that have not, this manual is a lakeshore resident's guide to the stewardship and monitoring of lakes. Its purpose is to provide education, awareness, technical training and support for curious and concerned lake stewards.
"Train the Trainers" LakeKeepers Workshop
There is still opportunity, however, to attend one of many LakeKeepers workshops offered next year throughout BC. Additional information on upcoming LakeKeepers workshops, locations and dates will be posted on this website. If you would to have your name added to a list of individuals/groups interested in future LakeKeepers Training Courses, please email This email address is being protected from spambots.
