Call for Partners - BC Clean Drain Dry Pilot Program

Call for Partners – BC Clean Drain Dry Pilot Program

The Invasive Species Council of BC is working with the Canadian Council on Invasive Species and in partnership with Fisheries and Oceans Canada to launch a BC-wide Clean Drain Dry pilot program that is the foundation for a Canada-wide program. The project aims to encourage boaters, aquatic recreationists, and anglers, who play a critical role in protecting local watersheds from invasive species, to clean, drain, and dry all boats, equipment, and gear.

The three-year pilot project will focus on three main outreach and education components.

  1. An online hub for Clean Drain Dry information and resources will be established;
  2. Clean Drain Dry signage will be created, to be installed by participating partners across BC; and
  3. A social and digital media campaign will be developed, including videos and Public Service Announcements.

We encourage stewardship groups, local governments, regional invasive species committees and more to submit their interest in partnering to receive new Clean Drain Dry Signage. Signs will be provided to approved partners to place at boat launches and access points that do not already have existing signage. Want to learn more or apply to become a partner? Apply by March 25th at cleandraindry.ca. Applicants that do not receive approval for signage in 2019 will be considered for the 2020 season.
