July is Officially Proclaimed as Lakes Appreciation Month

July 2023 Officially Proclaimed as Lakes Appreciation Month!

It’s official! July has been proclaimed as Lakes Appreciation Month in British Columbia. The official 2023 proclamation can be viewed here.

Lakes Appreciation Month is a program of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS) that encourages everyone to not take water for granted. You work and play on them and you drink from them, but do you really appreciate them? We are fortunate in British Columbia to have 386,049 lakes, but increased usage, development, climate change, and invasive species, all put pressure on this important resource.

Check out the NALMS website for a great list of ideas on how to help make Lakes Appreciation Month great this year!

Don’t forget to share your stories, events, photos, etc. on social media! Use the hashtag #LakesAppreciation and tag NALMS!

Thank you for caring for British Columbia’s lakes!
