2023 Secchi Dip-In!

It’s that time of year again! The annual Secchi Dip-In is just around the corner, so it’s time to dust of your Secchi disks and organize an event with your local lake stewardship group, or with friends and family during the month of July.

The Secchi Dip-In is an international event where volunteer monitors take a transparency measurement at least one day during the month of July (Lakes Appreciation Month). These values are used to assess the transparency of volunteer-monitored lakes in North America. Lakes Appreciation month was started by the North American Lake Management Society to focus attention on the value of lakes and the threats they are facing.

We have data sheets for returning participants and new participants. You can print the forms and scan them or fill them in directly on your computer. Completed forms can then be submitted on our website or sent by email to marie@bclss.org.
